Mosquito Hill Pinot Noir 2017

Fluerieu Peninsula SA

In 2017, the yield from our Hawthorns vineyard was closer to our long term average, with 7.2 tonnes of fruit being produced. ( 1.8 t/a or 32.8 hl/ha) The fruit was healthy and we again used about 40% whole bunch fermentation and 30% new French oak barriques for the elevage. Because of ongoing divided opinions on the best closures, we bottled half of this wine under cork (Diam) and half under screw cap. The wine has powerful pinot fruit flavours, perhaps more to the red fruit end of the spectrum than the last few years, where black fruits have tended to dominate. As with all of our Pinots we expect this wine to be long lived and it will be interesting to compare its development under cork and under screw cap.

La Linea Tempranillo 2016

Adelaide Hills SA

The nose is a perfumed mix of raspberry and cherry, as well as dried herbs: sage, sorrel and marjoram. Gently tannic but lively, with a mouthful of those red fruits, it’s a generously fleshy but savoury wine of length.

Rusden Good Shephard Malbec 2016

Barossa Valley SA

Loaded with blue fruits, some violet and an underlying spice on the nose. The palate has a velvety texture with hallmark blueberry and cassis characters. An elegant example of Malbec, finishing with a lovely fruit profile and soft tannins.

Gatt Accent Shiraz 2016

Barossa Valley SA

Dark red with a brick hue in the glass. Leather, cedar and earth over ripe dark fruits on the nose. Dense, ripe and fleshy with masses of plummy dark fruit, cedary oak and secondary complexity. Retains supple, savoury tannins and fresh acid drive.

Stefano Lubiana Pinot Gris 2018

Fruit is hand picked and sorted by hand on a vibrating table, then crushed and left on skins overnight prior to pressing. Around 50% was fermented naturally in 2-5 year old 500L French oak barrels, while the balance was inoculated and fermented in tank; both parcels spent seven months on lees. With a slight amber tint from its time on skins this wine is spicy, smooth and delicious with a layered and intricate palate. Quince, pear, richness and depth - a great food wine.

Scorpo Estate Chardonnay 2017

Mornington VIC

The 2017 Scorpo Chardonnay is an exceptional example of Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay; with a youthful straw appearance and tightly wound cool-climate aromas of nectarine, mandarin, lemon rind and nougat. The refined and complex palate offers a nice mix of grapefruit and vanilla spice with a precise, compelling mineral finish.

Onannon Rose 2017

Yarra Valley VIC

50/50 Cabernet and Merlot. Hand picked and pressed immediately. The juice is settled and fined lightly to remove some tannin and colour. The juice is racked cleanly and split between barrel and tank for fermentation. Clean, quick ferments follow. Once fermented the wine is sulphured to prevent MLF, and then matured for a few months until filtration and bottling. The 2017 has slightly more colour than the 2016. It shows a little more candied fruit one the nose, but has cherries and rhubarb on the palate. The finish is dry and clean. Savoury is the mission statement. - Will Byron, Onannon

Scorpo Estate Pinot Noir 2016

Mornington VIC

"95 Points. Rich and svelte at once, its cherry-berried flavours, cedar wood and sweet spice notes entirely seductive both in isolation and in team. This is the way to combine the swishness of oak, the sweet-sour tang of varietal fruit, and studs of spice and leaves. The statement it makes on quality is clear." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion 2019.

Collector Rose Red City Sangiovese 2014

Collector ACT

Sangiovese (94%) and Malvasia Nera (6%) blend. Spiced redcurrant, mulberry and tobacco yield to a rich palate framed by cherries, hints of tar and firm savoury tannins.

TarraWarra Estate Barbera 2016

Yarra Valley VIC

'Deepish red colour with a good purple tint. Attractive pot-pourri, red fruit and Asian spice aromas; the wine is soft and spicy with some raspberry varietal touches and light, fine tannins scattered over the end-palate and finish. A charming middle-palate fruit sweetness will win it lots of friends. A very attractive and authentic barbera, and a gorgeous drink.' 95 Points - Huon Hooke

Vasse Felix Shiraz 2015

Margaret River WA

Deep red with a vibrant purple hue. Bright raspberry and cranberry fruit characters mingle with underlying graphite and warm stone notes. Subtle hints of sweet earth and potpourri deliver an aromatic lift. An elegant, pretty palate with fine powdery tannins which complement the lively, red-fruit flavoured core. A hint of wood smoke and biscuit add savoury complexity to the lingering finish.

Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Miamup WA

A brooding deep garnet in colour with youthful and classic cabernet aromas of mint, violets, savoury dry herbs and briary hedgerow fruits, all spiced with a touch of mocha and toasted oak. The palate is a bag of bramble fruits – red currants, mulberries, plums, blackberries and blueberries, all supple and rich. This ambling fruit power is bridled by an ample swathe of fine fruit tannins, well assisted by the finest grained French oak.
