Abundant winter rains were followed by a cool spring and summer resulting in a late vintage. From Swamp Road in Piccadilly and the Mawson Rd vineyard in Lenswood. Hand picked on 13th and 7th April , wild fermented in open fermenter and closed puncheon, with 20% whole bunch with long maceration.
Matured for 11 months in French oak. Desiccated orange and violets on the nose, tart goji berry, rosehip tea, chalky dry finish.

Attractive coppery pink in the glass. The nose has notes of musk, candied orange peel, fresh blood orange, sour cherry, fresh herbs and a slight Campari twist. Bitter-edged on the palate with that blood orange note, with musky pear, peach and strawberry fruit. It has a soft phenolic texture along with zesty tannins that add a pleasant grip. Finishes dry, clean and tangy. Engaging and moreish, with impressive finesse for this style of wine, and with a good volume of fresh fruit to balance the phenolic and savoury skinsy elements.

The fruit for this 2017 Paringa Peninsula Pinot Noir was sourced from three leased Red Hill Vineyards and a number of other high quality grower vineyards across the Mornington Peninsula. This lifted wine offers briary fruit dominated by fresh cherries, blueberries and complexing nutmeg spice. The palate is full, flavorsome and long with evident fine tannins - another delicious Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from the team at Paringa Estate.

Shadowfax Minnow Mataro Grenache Roussanne 2017

Colour is dark red to black with a ruby hue. Bouquet has blueberries and raspberry fruits complexed by some brairy spice. Ginger notes and violets add intrigue. There are some floral components also. A fun and vibrant palate has violet and blue fruits at its core. There is a plenty of space on the palate lending this wine perfectly to a range of foods. The tannins are fine and dusty with a savoury crunch from the Roussanne’s white grape tannins, giving lovely texture and drive. The long and lingering palate remains fresh, lending itself to that second or third glass.

Translucent salmon pink colour with a watery hue. The nose is delicately scented with raspberries, fresh peaches and water melon with a hint of cranberry juice and light musk also present. Well rounded, yet light in the mouth the palate is elegantly flavoured with moreish peach and raspberry flavours over light infusions of musk with a dry spicy finish. Refreshing acidity with an aftertaste of raspberries, peaches, light musk and spice.

Maturation 30% in tank and 70% in oak barrels, on thin lees during 12 to 18 months before bottling. The clay soil brings strength and power, limestone brings delicacy and elegance to this wine.

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright red hue. Elevated scents of dark cherries tinged with violets drift from the glass followed by dried herbs, lightly scorched earth and spicy old cedar. Very savoury with light to medium body weight and an elegant feel the palate features flavours of ripe red and dark cherries that are gently spiced over a back drop of earthy old cedar and spicy dried herbs. Dry finish with bright acidity and fine grained beautifully integrated tannins. Long aftertaste of spicy red and dark cherries, earthy old cedar, old leather and dried herbs. A delicious, easy going Sangiovese.

Alamos Malbec 2017


The 2016 Alamos Malbec has a dark purple colour with violet highlights. The nose offers bright black cherry aromas with light floral notes and a touch of toast. The mouthfeel is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice from light oak aging. The finish shows ripe, silky tannins.

The wine displays a concentrated dark ruby core and shimmers on the rim with pink-light garnet hues. The explosive nose is a rich combination of perfume and fruit, launching off with freshly picked wild berries, red cherry, red plum, strawberry, dried orange, rose petal, forest floor, crushed stone, and black tea leaf. On the palate, the wine is sensuous and has a structure that belies the “Bourgogne” designation on the label. It is classic, juicy red Burgundy that has smooth tannins and a healthy polish of silky fruit; reminiscent of a Premier Cru.
